Printers

Not only the PCs are important, but also the printers are important, too. With these devices you can obtain a hard copy of a transaction, purchase, important information, etc.

There are different types of printers in the market for specific use. Inkjet, dot-matrix, laser, line, and thermal are the most common types of printers that exist now days in the market.

For printers to be in optimum conditions, we have to give preventive maintenance to them. Because of the maintenance we give to them, the printers will give you more years of service and reliability. Also will improve print quality and performance.

Printers are also classified by the following characteristics:

  • Print Quality

    The output produced by printers is said to be either letter quality, near letter quality, or draft quality. Only daisy wheel, inkjet and laser printers produced letter quality type.

  • Speed

    Measured in characters per second (cps), line per minute (lpm), and pages per minute (ppm).

  • Impact

    Include all printers that work by striking an ink ribbon. These kind of printers are much noisier than non-impact printers.

  • Non-impact

    Printers that doesn't strike an ink ribbon. This type of printers are less noisy than impact printer.

  • Graphics

    Is measured in dots per inch (dpi). The more dots there are, better the graphics are going to be.

  • Fonts

    Some printers are limited to one or few fonts, like dot-matrix. Others can print an almost unlimited variety of fonts. Daisy wheel printers can also print different fonts, but you need to change the diasy wheel.

For the user to print either a document or an image from his or her PCs, it will need a way for it's PCs to communicate with the printer. This way of communication between the PCs and the printer or any devices is known as interface. Because there are to many interfaces, the user can choose to met its working requirements. Interfaces work and communicates different from each other. The printers come with one of the following interfaces:
