Universal Serial Bus (USB)

USB Cables

This is an external bus standard that supports data transfer rate of 12Mbps (USB 1.1). You can connect to a single USB port up to 127 pripheral devices (e.g. mice, keyboards, modems, etc.). Also, this interface supports plug-n-play installation and hot plugging - meaning that you can plug the USB device with the computer turn on.

The USB 2.0 supports data rates of 480Mbps. This version if fully backward compatible and uses the same cable and connectors.

This interface is expected to completely replace serial and parallel ports. Some USB devices consume less energy (e.g. USB Flash drives, external HDD, etc.).
