Recommended Standard - 232 (RS-232)

A standard interface for connecting serial devices. It transmit one bit at a time. Most PCs have an RS-232 port for connecting many devices like mice, display screens, serial printers, etc. The name of its port is COM x (x represent a number).

This interface supports two types of connectors:

  • 25 pin D-type (DB25) connector.
  • 9 pin D-type (DB9) connector.
