Parallel

Type of interface known as Centronics port is used in PCs and in some printers. This interface is mostly used for printers. The name of its port is LPT x (x represents a number). Parallel interfaces transmit 8 bit at one time.

In early days, parallel interfaces were monodirectional (commnunicates in one direction) and it was not posible to feed data into the computer. Now days, this interface comes bidirectional (communicates in both directions). This way the user will either receive a message or know the status of the device on screen.
