Interface

This term refers is used in both hardware and software. An Interface can be either a GUI or a cable, wich is where the data pass through.

A GUI (Graphical User Interface) is where the user press buttons or type text and the system or program acts on behalf of him or she. The system interacts with the hardware. This way, the user do not have to memorize and type complicated commands. Hardware interface are the equipment that the user interact with, such as keyboards. This device let the user interact with the computer. Therefore, the user can type text or press the Enter key to interact with a button.

Also, cables are interfaces, too. Some of them can connect a device to the network, or connect a printer to a PC.

In other words, interface is a point where two devices or systems communicate with each other.
